My name is Reggy Monsanto and I have been a youth soccer coach for over 10 years.
I started playing youth soccer at age 9 in Queens, NY. I played recreationally and then club soccer until I was 23 years old. I played 4 years of NCAA (Div II) soccer as a goalkeeper for Queens College. I also made it through the first round of cuts for the US Olympic/National Team in 1983. Obviously, I did not make the 2nd cut, but that did not diminish my passion for "the beautiful game". I moved to Florida with my wife, Catherine (Katie), and we started a family here. I have 2 lovely boys who both (you guessed it) LOVE soccer. I began my youth soccer coaching career with the AYSO U8 Purple Dragons in the Flagler County Youth Soccer Association. I also volunteered as a referee. I also volunteered as a Registrar. I also volunteered as a board member. I am now on the AYSO Florida State board as a representative of North/Central Florida (as well as being an Intermediate Level AYSO Referee and Coach). My youngest son, Nathan, was able to work with Coach Rich Weber (now President of Flagler United) in the summer of 2007, and has been playing on Rich’s very successful U-11 Fury team since then. That began my exposure to travel/competitive/club soccer.
In November 2007 I was nominated and gladly accepted the position of Vice President and Director of Coaching for Flagler United (FUY). I received my E license in March 2008 and hope to receive my D license this year as well. I am a current member of the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America). I currently coach a travel team as well. I am the proud coach of the U14 Boys Flagler Flames, where I have the pleasure of coaching my oldest son, Nicholas. I plan on trying to keep the Flames together as we have been quite successful in our first season, winning the GCF Spring 2008 C Division. My plan is to move the Flames to the U15 Boys B division, and then, hopefully, to the U16 Boys A Division by Fall 2009.
